Beware of Bernese Mtn Dog Breeder websites that steal photos of Berners from other breeders and then display those photos to falsely portray their kennel.

Berner Cross-breeds/Mixes

There's a faction of unethical breeders in the Puppy Market who are gaining new momentum in taking advantage of uneducated buyers.

In Bernese, some examples of their products are:

       Berner-doodles  (crossing a Bernese with a Poodle)

       LaBerners / Labernese / Berner-Labs (crossing a Bernese with a Labrador)

In other breeds, some examples of their products are:

Labradoodles (crossing a Labrador with a Poodle)

Goldendoodles (crossing a Golden Retreiver with a Poodle)

Cock-a-poo (crossing a Cocker Spaniel with a Poodle)

The sad part is, the marketing tactics this type of breeder uses are very convincing to the average puppy buyer. They promise all sorts of impossible promises like:

"Get a Berner-Lab and you'll get the best of the temperaments from BOTH breeds!"

Or, the very successful sales pitch:

"Get a Bernerdoodle and you won't have the orthopedic problems that you would probably get with a purebred Bernese"

The FACT is that the genetics behind these types of breedings means that there is literally NO WAY to predict anything meaningful in the progeny. At best, these are total outcrosses, which is an incredibly unpredictable breeding. So the sales tactics used by this sort of 'breeder' are outright lies and BAD INFORMATION (which are often made believable to the average buyer who knows nothing about breeding genetics).

For a more in-depth study on this topic, please visit the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Canada's website where they gained permission to post an article written by a respected free-lance author named Leslie C Smith:

Buying a Berner PupRemember that unethical breeders will try to hide their lack of breeding ethics.

And its also good to remember:

"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Please help our Bernese Mountain Dog breed by buying/owning a Berner responsibly.

After all, its ultimately up to you, the puppy buyer.

Thank you for taking the time to read what I've written here and perusing my website.

I hope my notes here will help you and then, ultimately, the Bernese Mountain Dog breed.
