Beware of Bernese Mtn Dog Breeder websites that steal photos of Berners from other breeders and then display those photos to falsely portray their kennel.

SageKeep's next planned Litter: Spring 2011

I am located in eastern Washington State.

While I have placed puppies with responsible pet owners as

far away as Virginia, New Mexico, Arizona and California,

I prefer to place puppies in the Pacific Northwest when possible.

Shali's Litter, March 2003

I do my best to carefully plan my breedings a long time in advance of the actual breeding. I spend a lot of time & effort researching pedigrees and agonizing over choices.

I know my pedigrees well, for many generations.

For me, this is a painstaking process and is a whole lot more than just letting dogs mate.

My primary traits to breed for are temperament, longevity and overall health. Other very important goals are correct breed structure, movement and type.

If you'd like more information about my breeding program and/or you wish to view my puppy contract, please email me: info@sagekeep.com

Why buy from a Show Breeder when you only want a PET Berner...

Typically, Show Breeders are the BEST source to buy a PET from.

This is because Show Breeders pay close attention to ALL those important items necessary to produce a top quality Show Prospect (aka, breeding prospect). This is why they bred the litter: to get a SHOW/breeding Puppy.

For Pet Buyers, this means Your Puppy was bred given serious and meaningful consideration to temperament, health, longevity, structure, breed type and more in the pedigrees involved. And THAT means you have a superior benefit from a good breeder's efforts.

FACT: Good Show-Dog breeders produce more pets than show dogs.

This is because in a typical litter of, say 7 puppies, only ONE (1) puppy will truly be "show quality". Maybe two. The rest are well-bred pets that need good pet homes. Why? There is so much criteria for a pup to meet in order to qualify as "show potential" that very few puppies can meet enough of the criteria. The majority of pups produced by a good "show breeder" will go into pet homes as companion animals.

You can be assured that a breeder who doesn't Show their dogs is a breeder who is making puppies solely for profit and NOT for the best interest of the breed.

Therefore, PLEASE - Please don't buy from a breeder who does not actively SHOW their dogs.

Upcoming Litters

Next Litter: Planned for Spring 2011

DON'T PAY A PUPPY DEPOSIT TO BE ON A WAITING LIST

FOR ANY BREEDER

UNLESS

THE BREEDER HAS AGREED YOU WILL HAVE A PUPPY FROM THAT VERY NEXT LITTER!!

If you'd like some good Breeder References in YOUR AREA...I may know of a few other breeders who may either have current litters, or litters planned. And I definitely know of other quality Berner people who do know good breeders throughout the USA.

Email Me

and I'll do my best to connect you with other ethical breeders.
